Grasshopper and Cricket Science Page

I have been meaning to post a picture of a science example. H picked "Grasshopper and Cricket" from the jar, so that is what we learned about today. The kids love insects and were even motivated to draw their own pictures all by themselves, so we combined art with science today. K drew and colored this grasshopper entirely on his own! I was so proud (he's been a little afraid to draw- thinking he can't do it good enough, but he was impressed with this one and has got some confidence now). They have to write about 2 sentences describing what they learned in their own words. This should make a cute little book someday.

That is an awesome grasshopper! I have no drawing ability whatsoever. My oldest struggles with perfectionism too, but he's actually gaining more confidence. Learning to draw is one of my goals for this year, for all of us, but I never seem to get to it.
